چکیده

Abstract Background The outcomes of immediate autologous breast reconstruction (IABR) after partial mastectomy followed by postoperative radiotherapy (RT) in terms aesthetics, treatment-related complications, and local control are unclear. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy IABR with or without RT, thus impact radiation on flap transfer. Method A retrospective cohort study involving consecutive cancer patients who underwent between July 2011 December 2017 at Shengjing Hospital was performed. Patients were divided into two groups based whether not they received RT IABR. We compared aesthetic changes size over three-dimensional coordinates various timepoints (pre-RT, 1, 6, 12 months post-RT), as well survival, recurrence rates groups. Results total, 84 enrolled, 32 group 52 non-RT group. At a median follow-up time 33.3 months, no significant difference found rate regional (3.13% vs. 3.85%, P = 1.00), recurrences occurred either pre-RT, 6 post-RT (approximately 4, 7, IABR, respectively), 77 (91.7%), 70 (83.3%), 83 (98.8%) patients, respectively, had achieved very good cosmetic outcomes, only skin color 1 month significantly differed groups, result 62.5% 96.2%, respectively ( < 0.001). No reduction observed any timepoint There differences complications including necrosis flap, infection, hematoma, seroma (all > 0.05). Additionally, grade 3 greater RT-associated adverse events during RT. Conclusion following provides aesthetically satisfactory results intolerable may safely be performed mastectomy.

Breast Reconstruction following Breast-conserving Surgery with a Subcutaneous Tissue Expander and Latissimus Dorsi Flap

SUMMARY Corrective surgery following breast-conserving surgery is generally challenging due to severe fibrosis induced by postoperative radiotherapy. Although use of the latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap offers a safe and reliable option, exposure of the skin paddle to the skin surface is often inevitable to achieve correction of nipple-areola complex malposition, leaving conspicuous, patchwor...

Replacement of the tumor bed following oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery with immediate latissimus dorsi mini-flap

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the geographic variability of the tumor bed following oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery (OP-BCS), and to assess its relevance for radiotherapy planning. In this prospective study, pre- and postoperative computerized tomography (CT) scans of 22 patients with early-stage breast cancer were fused. The preoperative gross tumor volume or excisional bi...

Similar Outcomes of Standard Radiotherapy and Hypofractionated Radiotherapy Following Breast-Conserving Surgery

BACKGROUND Adjuvant radiation therapy is commonly administered to breast cancer patients who received breast-conserving surgery. However, lengthy treatment times of standard radiotherapy pose certain challenges. Here, we performed a prospective controlled study comparing standard radiation to hypofractionated radiotherapy in terms of efficacy and outcome. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighty breast ca...

Breast reconstruction in conserving breast cancer surgery.

Breast conserving treatment (BCT) combined with radiotherapy have proved the test of time as a sound oncological operation regarding survival and local recurrence. Successful BCT is a balance between adequate surgery and maintaining the breast's appearance. Unsatisfactory outcome reaches 20-30% in standard techniques of BCT. Concepts described to widen the spectrum of BCT, have made an improvem...

Reliability of Reconstructed Breast Flap after Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy in Immediate Breast Reconstruction

BACKGROUND Postmastectomy adjuvant therapy is used to prevent locoregional recurrence and improve overall breast cancer specific survival rates. However, it can adversely affect the cosmetic results of reconstruction. Therefore, the authors examined flap stability and patients' satisfaction with immediate breast reconstruction after adjuvant therapy. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the me...
